PH Stainless Steel

PH STAINLESS STEEL(precipitation hardening stainless steel) adds different types and amounts of strengthening elements on the basis of the chemical composition of stainless steel, and precipitates different types and amounts of carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides and intermetallic compounds through the precipitation hardening process. A class of high strength stainless steel, referred to as PH steel, that both improves the strength of steel and maintains sufficient toughness. Precipitation hardening stainless steel can be divided into martensitic type, semi-austenitic type and austenitic type according to the metalloscopic structure of its matrix.

● 15-5PH/UNS S15500 (UNS S15500):

15-5PH Stainless steel, also known as XM-12 or UNS S15500, is a modification of 17-4 PH developed in the 1960s. It has a more refined microstructure obtained through the remelting process. This refined structure improves toughness of the material. UNS S15500 also has low temperature hardening, good fabrication properties and excellent corrosion resistance, which makes it suitable for many industries. It can be machined in the solution-annealed state or in final heat treat condition. The strength and ductility of UNS S15500 can be enhanced through heating the material at different temperatures. UNS S15500 is a martensitic precipitation hardening type stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed to be corrosion resistant and hardened through heat treatment.

Design Features

UNS S15500 also has low temperature hardening, good fabrication properties and excellent corrosion resistance, which makes it suitable for many industries. ● 17-4PH UNS S17400(UNS S17400):

17-4PH stainless steel is a magnetic precipitation hardening--martensitic stainless steel with special metallic elements copper and niobium.17-4PH stainless steel is the most widely used material of all the precipitation-hardening stainless steels.

17-4 Stainless is a martensitic chromium-nickel-copper stainless steel in the solution treated (annealed) condition. It can be further hardened to various strength levels by a single precipitation hardening heat treatment that minimizes scaling and distortion. Its strength and moderate corrosion resistant properties are maintained in service temperatures up to the 600°F to 800°frange. The alloy should not be used in the solution treated (annealed) condition.

Design Features

  • 17-4PH Stainless Steel is a chromium-nickel-copper precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel that combines oxidation and corrosion resistance comparable to 304 in most environments with high strength and hardness. It is the most widely used of all the precipitation hardening stainless steels, and is more cost effective than many high nickel non-ferrous alloys in someApplications. 17-4PH cannot be used at temperatures above 300℃and at cryogenic temperatures. It is magnetic.

● 17-17PH UNS S17700(UNS S17700):

The 17-7PH is an austenitic-Martenite precipitation hardened stainless steel developed as one based on the 18-8CrNi, also known as the control phase transition stainless steel.Equivalent designations: UNS S17700 , DIN W. Nr. 1.4568

17-7PH Stainless steel is a precipitation hardened stainless steel that possesses high strength and hardness, excellent fatigue properties, good formability, good corrosion resistance, and minimal distortion upon heat treatment. The properties of this alloy are well suited for aerospace applications.

● 15-7PH UNS S15700(UNS S15700):

Type 15-7 PH stainless steel is a semi-austenitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that provides high strength and hardness, good corrosion resistance and minimum distortion on heat treatment. It is easily formed in the annealed condition and develops an effective balance of properties by simple aging heat treatments.
