Description
Lap Joint pipe flanges are often used for applications that require frequent dismantling. Lap joint flange (simplified as LTF flange) shape is similar to slip on flange, it has a curved radius at the bore, which can connect with a stub end fittings and slide over the pipe. In this form, the pipe is usually welded to this stub end so the lap joint flange can rotate freely around the stub end .
Lap Joint flanges go by a range of names, including: Back Up flanges, Loose Ring flanges, Loose Hubbed flanges, Van Stone flanges.
They’re a two-part flange consisting of a Lap Joint Stub End which is butt welded to the pipe and a backing lap joint flange which is slid onto the pipe before welding the Stub End.

Technology and Method of Forging Steel Flange
Its technology and method includes free forging, die forging and fetal membrane forging. According to the quality of the forgings and number of production batches, different forging methods are selected.
Free Forging
The free forging productivity is low, the machining allowance is large, but the tool is simple and the versatility is large, so it is widely used for forging a single piece and a small batch of forgings with a simple shape.
Die Forging
The die forging is collectively referred to as model forging, in which the heated blank is placed in the forging die fixed on the die forging equipment.
Forged Steel Flange
It has good streamline shape and compact structure, have good mechanical properties.
If the forging process is improper, the grain will be large or uneven, and the hardening crack will occur.
Forgings is compatible with high shear and tensile forces.

Why use a lap joint flange?
A lap-joint flange is a two-component assembly, with a stub end that has a lap-joint ring flange placed over it. The stub end is then butt welded to the pipe, and the flange ring can be rotated to align with the mating flange. This type of flange connection is particularly useful for large or hard-to-adjust flanges.
